The Ambassador congratulated Georgia with the democratic elections and election of a first woman President. According to him, half of MPs in Cuba are women. “In this regards, Cuba is in the top 10 of the countries with gender equality in the Parliament. The number of women is high in other state agencies as well and this year, for the first time in history of Cuba, a woman was elected the Rector of Havana State University”.
The parties discussed exchange of experience. According to the Ambassador, Cuban Parliament works on the new Constitution. “From the single party administration we move to the Parliamentary Republic. The changes will also be introduced to the administrative-territorial arrangement. The Parliament elects the Prime Minister and the Government. The draft Constitution will be put to the universal referendum in February to be finally adopted by the Parliament”.
G. Magradze noted that Georgia can share good experience as Georgia has just recently adopted the new Constitution guaranteeing the Parliamentary model of the Republic. “In this regard, information can be exchanged between the Parliaments”.
The parties emphasized cooperation between the countries. According to the Ambassador, he has held interesting meetings with the Economic Ministry representatives and planned the international exhibition in November, 2019 on business with participation of Georgia. The countries will be allowed introducing their production. The exhibition will as well be participated by the Latin American and post-Soviet countries.
The Ambassador noted that Georgia and Cuba shall intensify cooperation in medicine. “In this regard, Cuba has achieved high progress. We have created the vaccines which are internationally recognized and are effective against: lung cancer and against diabetic foot”.
According to G. Magradze, the countries will exchange experience in tourism. The parties touched upon cooperation in science and education spheres. “In this regard we shall better use the University potential and ensure exchange of the students and the professors in our future relations”, -she noted.
