The First Deputy Minister of Finance, Giorgi Kakauridze expanded on the main parameters of the budget and noted that the actual implementation of the 12-month plan for 2020 is 102.7%. Last year’s economic decline totaled 6.2%, which was caused by the impact of the pandemic.
The Deputy Minister dwelt on the budget execution parameters by agencies and the additional expenditures in the form of subsidies and aid caused by the pandemic, focusing on the environment and agriculture, where he said budget execution was 102% and more than 496 mln GEL was absorbed last year.
Speaking about the programs implemented in the field of environmental protection, the rapporteur noted that in terms of environmental impact assessment, the performance was 94% (581 000 GEL).
MPs heard the detailed information on the implementation of environmental protection oversight, protected areas, protection of the forest system, implementation of biodiversity protection measures, performance of the Wildlife Agency and its activities and the budget expenditures for monitoring the protection of the nuclear and radiation safety environment.
According to the speaker, "Pursuant to macroeconomic forecasts, there is an expectation that economic activity will be optimistic, which means double-digit economic growth this year. Accordingly, debt and deficit rates will be reduced”.
According to Maia Bitadze, Chair of the Committee, "Despite the pandemic, the rate of budget absorption is satisfactory, both in the direction of environmental protection and in the direction of entrails management."
