The Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee held a meeting with the Deputy Chair of the Chamber of Architects of the Czech Republic, Milan Svoboda, introducing the Czech experience of urban planning of the green cities.
He dwelt on the normative base, urban planning, greening and respective projects in the Czech Republic.
“The integration of the environmental issues in the urban development is a priority for our Committee, also as envisaged under the EUAA Agenda and important for the improvement of life quality in our cities”, - the Chair of the Committee, Maia Bitadze stated.
The sitting was attended by the Czech Ambassador, H.E. Petr Mikyska, according to which: “The Parliament of Georgia is inspired to develop the cities through the coordinated, national and inclusive legal approaches. We want to support Georgia in the achievement of the sustainable development goals, namely the reduction of the negative impact on the environment”.
The sitting was as well attended by the representatives of Tbilisi City Hall, introducing the green city concept.
M. Bitadze noted that the “Committee strives to apply those legal changes adopted during the last 3 years for Tbilisi to the whole country and thus, create the basis for the culture of the green city strategy”.
The sitting was attended by the representatives of the Economic Ministry, Municipalities of Telavi and Batumi, international organizations and financial institutions.
