The Chair of the Education and Science Committee, Head of the Georgia-Iran Friendship Group, Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Akbar Ghasemi Aliabadi to discuss the relations between the Friendship Groups and cooperation in the science and educational spheres.
“We encounter certain difficulties for the last 2 years due to the pandemic, including in the economy and tourism and we hope that the relations will regain the old quality after the pandemic is over”, - Sh. Papuashvili stated.
The parties discussed the interest of the Iranian students to study medicine in Georgia.
“We have Iranian students in Georgia and it was interesting to discuss it with the Ambassador as Iran recognizes the Diplomas issued by Georgian Universities”, - he added.
The parties touched upon the establishment of the Department of the Persian Language in Georgian universities, visits of the specialists of the Persian language to Georgia etc.
The Ambassador expressed the will to host the specialists of the Georgian language and linguists in Iran and cooperation between the Universities.
