The Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee keeps discussing the problems of renewable energy.
Today, the Working Group on Thematic Inquiry heard the positions submitted by the parties concerned on May 31-June 11 and selected the respective specialists and experts, as well as the administrative bodies to invite to the verbal hearing.
According to the Chair of the Committee and the main rapporteur of the Group, David Songulashvili, renewable energy is crucial for the sustainability of the energy sector.
“Energy independence is one of the key milestones of our independence and thus, it is paramount to study the challenges the renewable energy may encounter. The Thematic Inquiry Group will further develop the conclusion and the Committee will issue the recommendations for certain agencies”, - he stated.
The persons engaged in the inquiry have submitted their positions on the impediments to the development of renewable energy and the current schemes of support of the production of energy from renewable sources.
The inquiry is backed by the EU and UNDP and is held in cooperation with the WFD.
