Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia
Kakha Kutchava was born on September 23, 1979.
He pursued his studies in Georgia and England. In 2001, Kakha graduated from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Law. Later, in 2003 he was granted a Master’s Degree in Corporate Law at Nottingham Trent University.
On April 27, 2021, he was elected as Chairman of Parliament of Georgia.
On January 16, 2021, Mr. Kuchava was elected a member of the political council of the “Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia” party and is International Secretary of the party.
From 2020 November to 2021 April, he was a member of the 10th convocation of the Parliament of Georgia and a Deputy Chairman of the Parliament.
During 2016-2020 he was a member of the 9th convocation of the Parliament of Georgia Chairing the Committee on Environmental and Natural Resources. He later was appointed as a Deputy Speaker of the Parliament.
Kakha has been a member of the Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia faction since 2016.
In 2012-2016, he was occupying the leading positions in the private advisory, investment, and mining companies.
In 2011-2015 Mr. Kuchava was the Member of the Directors Board of the world’s most outstanding international business organization “International Chamber of Commerce“ in Georgia.
In 2007-2011 Kakha was the corporate law and corporate governance expert in International Finance Corporation (IFC).
In 2005-2007, he was the corporate law specialist in the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) project “Business Environment Reform”.
In 2005 and 2001-2004, he was the Legal Advisor of the Red Cross Society of Georgia. In 2001-2004 Mr. Kuchava worked in the “MKD” Law Firm as a senior lawyer.
